Ania Luk and Anew

An excerpt from the interview

What memorable responses have you had to your work?

When we talk about the reception of the art it all  comes down to subjectivity and personal preference. It’s such a wonderful feeling when your work has an impact on somebody’s life. It creates a special bond between artist and spectator, like we have a similar approach to life.

I had so many responses which were so fulfilling and heart-warming.  These responses are a tangible part of creativity.

This is one of the things that keeps me motivated – the part of that beautiful exchange between the painter and the spectator.

The greatest compliment  I have ever received was when someone told me that he designed  the whole interior of his house to match my paintings. It was really touching.

What couldn’t you live without?

I would say – my family and faith. And I try not to get used to things which is very captivating and not to take anything for granted.  I’m very grateful for what I have at the moment.

Favourite scent?

Not any particular fragrance for sure. I like natural scents like the smell of lavender or resin or my favourite – freshly cut wood -I love it.

What are your reading right now?

I usually read a few books at the same time or listen to e-books while painting.  Presently one of them is  a great book about finding or rather getting back to your inner self. We often act or pretend to be someone else, so that people liked us or didn’t judge us. That’s not going to happen and that is why we should be honest with ourselves and find the distance and be our best friends.
